| I have a feeling this will become more and more relevant as forum members start upgrading. Post what you like, and what you don't. Any perks or problems you come across.
For those who are deciding on whether to upgrade or not:
Pros: - Easier/understandable/user-friendly interface - Uses RAM more efficiently than Vista and XP, and takes up less RAM than Vista - Takes up less hard drive space than Vista - Prettier/Funner than both Vista and XP - More customizable than both Vista and XP - Much better accessories than both Vista and XP (calculator, paint, etc) - Search is faster/more accurate than both Vista and XP - More features over all
Cons: - Takes up more RAM to function than XP (don't install on an older machine) - Takes up more hard drive space than XP - Pretty interface not necessary - It's just a hassle to upgrade in general, takes hours - Costs a lot unless you are eligible for a free upgrade. (the Home Premium version is actually cheaper than Vista though)
In other words, if you've got enough money and have up-to-date hardware (2GB RAM, 2GHz Processor), I'd definitely recommend upgrading to Windows 7.

| I am very happy with 7. Mainly because Vista was causing my PC to crash CONSTANTLY. I got so sick of it. I bought 7 the day it came out. It isn't the best ever, but it is really good for me | |

| Me too, I don't think it's not bad of a choice...I prefer Microsofts than Macs although almost everyone really thinks macs are better | |

| It's a good OS...actaually I like it very much...but people with older machines shouldn't upgrade to 7 becuz the drivers for old hardware don't exist...for example I have problems with my sound, becuz of the old mainboard...and sometimes even the video is screwing me even though it's a vista driver... So from this point of view XP is better...but I recommend 7 for newer machines definitely | |

So from this point of view XP is better...but I recommend 7 for newer machines definitely this is pretty true. give it about another 6 months and most of the drivers will be there. i actually had the same problems when i switched my OLDER machine from Windows 2000 Pro to XP Pro (that was obviously almost 7 years ago). it is the nature of the beast unfortunately.

Yes, I recommend Windows 7. If your machine is new enough, it's definitely worth getting.

It's official that is okay though bene, cuz XP is pretty solid as long as your hard drive is in NTFS

Yes, I recommend Windows 7. If your machine is new enough, it's definitely worth getting. Its about a year old but i'm planning to get a new computer/laptop in the next few months! so i've desided not to upgrade my old OS and just buy a laptop with the OS integrated!

| @BJD...yep I know...I had no problems whatsoever with XP...drivers existed, kernel was the latest, NTFS of course...with windows 7 is a bit tougher...mostly the sound...
I'm glad though I didn't upgrade to 7 when it was released...I have a friend who did this, then he slowl upgraded it to newer windows 7 versions....but the kernel wasn't upgraded and his applications were a failure...when we checked out the problem we realized, the whole new windows 7 needed to be installed...man he suffered a lot
